Lock & Weir

The Lock enables an all-time high tide appearance with substantial amenity gains in these stages of Marsden Cove. Jetties are closer to the revetment wall or edge of the property making structures less costly. Boat ramps can also be incorporated to avoid the need to transport trailer craft to the nearest public ramp and wait in the queue. Swimming from the front lawn is made so much easier.

The Lock and mechanisms are a technically sophisticated combination of concrete, stainless steel, gearboxes, sensors and computer equipment capable of comfortably transferring vessels of 20m in length, 6m beam and 3m draft. It also enables pedestrians to cross via a vertical swinging bridge. Property owners gain access by remote key that is monitored and registered.  Time, date, and photos are recorded each time a remote is used. The system logs what buttons on the remote are pushed and how many times they are selected for each entry.  We encourage only the skipper takes control of the remote on entry and exit.  Click here to download the Lock Instruction Cards.

The Lock is attached to an adjoining 20m weir, with a level set 0.7m below mean high sea level. This enables an exchange of clean water with each tide cycle to maintain excellent quality seawater within the locked stages. Fenders, signals and safety mechanisms enable a hands-free operation. Two or three trailer craft can easily pass through in one cycle. The cycle time varies from high tide to low tide at 5 to 10 minutes.

Maintaining the water quality in our waterways has always been a major focus. This is done through regimented monitoring programs (which have excellent readings above required standards as set by regulatory authorities) and help to maintain a high quality waterway environment which promotes a healthy ecosystem, and enables safe and clean swimming water for people to enjoy. We have always maintained the vision of creating high amenity lifestyle developments as part of our larger strategy to deliver meaningful products that foster desirable neighbourhoods and communities.
